OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2013. Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), Anatoly Golomolzin, had a meeting in Moscow with Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection, Timur Baimukhanov.

The parties discussed the issues of further cooperation between FAS Russia and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection on a multilateral basis – under the umbrella of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) and the Common Economic Space as well as on a bilateral basis. In particular, the parties discussed practical cooperation between the antimonopoly authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation under the framework of ICAP and the Headquarters for Joint Investigations of Violations of the Antimonopoly Law of the CIS Member-States as well as several international groups, including the Working Group on Competition in the Pharmaceutical Sector.

The parties also discussed the VI Astana Economic Forum which will take place in the Republic of Kazakhstan on 22-24 March 2013.

At the Economic Forum there will be a Round Table “Efficiency of Antimonopoly Policy amidst Integration Processes” organized by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection. The Head of FAS Igor Artemiev will moderate the Round Table.

Summing up the meeting, Anatoly Golomolzin and Timur Baimukhanov expressed their intention to further develop cooperation to pursue more efficient competition policy on the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan.

By a decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in July 2012 Timur S. Baimukhanov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection.

On 25th January 2013 Bolatbek B. Kuandykov was appointed the Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection.
