OREANDA-NEWS. Cigarette output in Belarus increased 12.6% on the year in January-February 2013 to 5.8 billion units, according to the National Statistics Committee.

In February alone, Belarus’ cigarette output totalled 2.9 billion pieces (up 3% on year, down 2.1% on month).

Cigarette inventories stood at 2.6 billion units as of March 1, 2013 (101% of the average monthly output), up 75.2% on the year.

Sales of cigarettes amounted to 4.2 billion units, down 3.2% on the year, including 2.5 billion units sold by retail companies, down 1.1%.

Belarusian-made cigarettes accounted for 96% of all sales, up 0.7 percentage points on the year. The share of imported cigarettes in the total sales amounted to 4%, down 0.7 percentage points.
