OREANDA-NEWS. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Power, Govt. of India on March 25, 2013 detailing various targets to be achieved by POWERGRID during FY 2013-14. The MoU has been signed by P. Uma Shankar, Secretary (Power), Government of India and Shri R.N. Nayak, Chairman & Managing Director, POWERGRID.

Physical targets set forth for POWERGRID in the MoU 2013-14 include addition of Extra High Voltage transmission lines & transformation capacities. Special emphasis has been given to various activities under Human Resource Management, Research & Development, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Development, etc.

POWERGRID, a Navratna Company and the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) of the country, has been consistently receiving highest rating i.e., “Excellent” under MoUs since signing of the first MoU in 1993-94. Company presently owns & operates about 98,370 ckt. kms. of transmission lines, 160 EHV sub-stations with transformation capacity of 1,59,000 MVA and wheels about 50% of total power generated in the country. Availability of this gigantic transmission network is consistently maintained over 99%.
