OREANDA-NEWS. Ural Airlines has become the winner in the nomination ‘Airline of the Year – Domestic Passenger Carrier in Group 2 (Domestic Passenger Traffic Volume 1 to 3 Billion PKM)’ of the Wings of Russia National Aviation Award following the results of 2012. In addition thereto, Ural Airlines has become a diploma holder in the nomination ‘Airline of the Year – Scheduled International Passenger Carrier’.

Our reminder: The Wings of Russia Award was established in 1997 by the Russian Air Transport Operators Association and the Air Transport Review trade journal, and for more than 10 years now has been the only recognized award in the industry to celebrate the success of national airlines serving the cause of developing the country’s civil aviation. Laureates and diploma holders are determined by secret ballot vote of the Public Council members, which includes 100+ independent air transport experts: representatives of the authorities, public organizations in the industry, civil aviation veterans, and journalists. Back in the first year of the contest, Ural Airlines has become a winner even then. In 1997, the carrier won the Wings of Russia National Professional Award in the nomination ‘The Most Efficient Company of the Year’. In the years that followed, Ural Airlines has several times become a Wings of Russia winner – the current award is the airline’s 11th.
