OREANDA-NEWS. May 02, 2013. PETRONAS contributed RM1.2 million to the Ops Daulat welfare fund of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the Perwira Lahad Datu Fund of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) as well as to the families of the fallen heroes of Ops Daulat.
 
The contribution to the two respective funds, amounting to RM500,000 each, was presented by PETRONAS’ Chief Operating Officer Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin to the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Haji Ismail Haji Omar and Chief of the Defence Forces, Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin in a ceremony at the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
 
The remaining RM200,000 contribution will be equally distributed to the 10 families of the PDRM and ATM officers who were killed during the recent Ops Daulat in Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah. The contribution is to assist the families, particularly in supporting the education needs of the children of the fallen heroes. Each family will receive RM20,000 which will be made via the Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN-i) account.
 
PETRONAS’ contribution is in appreciation and acknowledgement of the risks taken and sacrifices made by the nation’s security and armed forces to maintain peace and security in Malaysia.
 
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Malaysian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, YM Lt Jen Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi bin Raja Mohamed Noor were also present at the event.
