OREANDA-NEWS. May 07, 2013. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) terminated the proceedings against “Rostelecom” OJSC (“Yug” Macro-regional branch of “Rostelecom” OJSC, the legal successor of “YuTK” OJSC) due to voluntary elimination of antimonopoly violations.

In 2010, FAS received petitions from physical persons regarding high prices of “YuTK” OJSC for access to Internet services in the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, included in the South and North Caucasus Federal Districts. Also petitioners complained about differentiation of the rates for the access to Internet services in townships in comparison with the rates for similar services fixed in the administrative centres of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation.

In the course of the case investigation, “Rostelecom” OJSC undertook measures to reduce the costs of Internet access services in comparison with the rates fixed in 2010. The costs of Internet access services on selective service plans were reduced on average threefold in the Republic of Adygeya, the Astrakhan region, the Volgograd region, the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, the Republic of Kalmykia, the Republic of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, the Krasnodar region, the Rostov region, the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania, and the Stavropol region. The company fixed the same Internet access rates for physical persons in all settlements.
