OREANDA-NEWS. OJSC KAMAZ and Rosneft concluded an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation to expand the use of natural gas as a motor fuel. Besides, agreements were signed with the governments of Voronezh, Samara Oblasts, as well as of Stavropol and Krasnodar Krai on cooperation to promote the use of gas engine fuel.

Russia’s leading truck producer and the largest oil and gas company plan to jointly carry out experimental design works to build vehicles running on gas, and also to develop a needed infrastructure of gas filling and service stations. Besides, it is planned to produce and convert vehicles, special-purpose and agricultural machinery to the use of compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas as a motor fuel.

The agreement also stipulates trainings and refresher trainings of engineers and technicians, mechanics and drivers to upgrade their skills in operation, maintenance and repair of gas-powered vehicles. In addition, the parties will create a working group to elaborate concerted approaches to realize top-priority pilot and long-term projects.

As regards the agreements signed with several regions, they provide for execution of joint tasks to convert transport from petrol and diesel fuel to gas. The documents prove that both the parties are interested in higher energy efficiency of the economy in regions and municipalities. To add to this, KAMAZ is ready to offer a wide variety of vehicles – buses and trucks powered with gas engines.
