OREANDA-NEWS. FESCO Transportation Group plans to increase the traffic volume of its railway service Baltic-Transit by 5% from 12,900 ТЕUs in 2012 to over 13,500 TEUs in 2013.

 International service Baltic-Transit was launched in May 2003. Throughout its operation the service carried 127,300 TEUs by 1,200 trains. The service frequency is at least 2 dispatches per week with at least 57 wagons per train. Average transit time along Russian Railways network was 4.5 days in 2012.

 The service is being used for railway transportation of cargoes delivered through the Baltic ports to Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Afghanistan. In Russia, the service is integrated by the basic company of FESCO logistic division – FESCO integrated transport, in Baltic states – by Latvian Railway.

 In 2009, Baltic-Transit commenced regular shipment of containerized cargo for ISAF in Afghanistan. All in all, 26,200 TEUs was transported to/from Afghanistan. FESCO Transportation Group accounts for 32 % of all container shipments to Afghanistan.
