OREANDA-NEWS. Vladimir Popovkin, head of the Federal Space Agency arrived in Zheleznogorsk to visit the Reshetnev Company’s facilities on May 30, 2013.

During his visit, Vladimir Popovkin was given a tour around ISS-Reshetnev’s main production facilities. He was brought up to date on the projects currently underway at the company by Nikolay Testoyedov, general designer and general director, and had the opportunity to take a close-up look at the process of assembly of telecommunications satellites of the Express series, Glonass-M navigation satellites and at various test benches and systems. As well as that, leading-edge technologies that the Reshetnev Company implements when building its spacecraft: honeycomb panels, structures and parts made of polymer composite materials, high-performance machining and measuring equipment were demonstrated to Vladimir Popovkin.

Head of Roscosmos was also taken to the new sites which are built with the use of substantial federal funding. Vladimir Popovkin visited the recently built facilities dedicated to the assembly and testing of large-sized foldable satellite structures, galvanochemical and varnish coatings. Apart from that, he was shown the new state-of-the-art integration and test facility which is currently under construction. It is to become the largest and the most high-technology site of ISS-Reshetnev for the assembly and ground experimental testing of satellites.

Winding up his visit to ISS-Reshetnev, Vladimir Popovkin held a meeting with senior management of the company.
