OREANDA-NEWS. SBB has standardised its agreements with T-Systems Switzerland for the operation and service of its central IT services. The Telekom subsidiary will be operating the SBB's core IT until 2018, which will exhaust the maximum duration of the sourcing agreement concluded in 2006. The two companies are now connected by cooperation based on trust which goes back more than 15 years. They have agreed to maintain silence on the contract volume.

"The extension of the S06 agreement with T-Systems further confirms our strategic partnership and our consistently pursued outsourcing strategy. The basis for the extension is the high quality status that has been achieved in the last few years. We appreciate the constructive cooperation across all levels in the past years and are convinced that in T-Systems we have a good and reliable partner for the implementation of SBB's challenging objectives", commented Dr Jochen Decker, Head of IT Operations at SBB.

In 2010 Swiss Federal Railways had already confirmed the agreements with T-Systems on computing centre and infrastructure services that had been in existence since 2006, and prematurely extended these to 2015. Some of the services were even contractually extended to 2018.

Pierre Klatt, Managing Director of T-Systems Switzerland, adds: "We are proud to be moving SBB forward on its route into the increasingly networked and digital future with our technologies and services. Our major customers value our highly available secure services and our universal responsibility for the IT processes."
