OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines launches flights from Vnukovo airport to the capital of Armenia - Yerevan from 15th of June.

Flight UN263/264 will be operated daily, departing from Vnukovo at 10:50, arriving to Yerevan at 13:30. The return flight will depart at 14:20, arriving to Moscow at 17:15. All times mentioned are local times.

The passengers of the new flight will be able to fly on board of Boeing 737 in a unique configuration: 56 luxurious business-class seats and a large distance between rows. The liner is equipped with in flight high-speed internet and cellular connections.

Yerevan is the capital and the largest city of Armenia with population about 1,129,000 people. The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC with the founding of the Urartian fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC located on the southern edge of modern Yerevan. The earliest mention of the city dates from the year 607 in the "Book of Letters".

Architect Alexander Tamanyan can be considered to be the father of the modern Yerevan. He managed to create a unique look of the city and embodied noble classical architecture with the skillful use of elements of ancient Armenian culture: stone carving, decoration ornaments, etc. In addition, in urban planning A. Tamanyan used main natural Armenian stone - tuff, a volcanic rock, very light, strong and beautiful. In Yerevan tuff reflects many shades of pink therefore the Armenian capital became known as "the pink city".

Republic Square and Mashtots avenue that runs from the Matenadaran to the town market are considered to be the center of Yerevan. In the center of the city there are numerous parks: the Conservatory Opera Square, Yerevan fortress (XVI c.), famous Institute of ancient Armenian manuscripts - Matenadaran (more than 16 thousand manuscripts V-X cc.) with a monument to Mesrop Mashtots in front of the facade, Sardarapat Memorial Complex (1968), monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and the Museum of Genocide (1995), the memorial to the heroes of the Karabakh war - Erablur. Original architecture and rich national motives characterize the hotel "Armenia", the former Union House, "Fountain Boulevard" between streets Nalbandian and Shaumyana, building of Yerevan Cognac Company, an unusual triangular house of chess players, the ensemble of the Academy of Sciences on the prospect of Marshal Bagramyan, Opera and Ballet Theatre with the Great Philharmonic Hall, the House of chamber music and other buildings created by Armenian architects.

Partnership between Vnukovo and Transaero began in February 2012 with the signing of the agreement on strategic cooperation and with the first flight to Tel Aviv in April.

In the summer season of 2013 Transaero entered to the active phase of the project to create a powerful transit center on the basis of the Vnukovo Airport, the largest and most modern terminal in Russia. At Vnukovo passengers will have the most comfortable conditions for connections flights between the cities of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the U.S.A. and the Western Europe. In total, Transaero will operate flights to more than 35 destinations out of Vnukovo.
