OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2013. CNPC, Total and Tethys Petroleum finalized an agreement in Tajik capital city of Dushanbe to develop Block Bokhtar in Tajikistan. Tajik Energy and Industry Minister Sherali Gul, China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corporation President Bo Qiliang, Total Exploration & Production Senior Vice President Michael Borrell, and Tethys Executive Chairman David Robson signed the agreement on behalf of each side.

Under the agreement, CNPC and Total will take a 33.335% stake in the project respectively, and Tethys will have a 33.33% stake. A joint venture will be thereby established according to the proportion of shares. CNPC and Total will take the lead in project operation, and the first president of the JV shall be appointed from CNPC.

Covering a total area of 34,800 square kilometers in the east of the Amu Darya Basin, Block BOKHTAR is a world-class asset with enormous potential.
