OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2013. New jobs by creating a freer business environment”. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca made the statement today after the completion of the works of the „MACRO 2013: a global view on Moldova’s economy” international conference, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The event was organised under the aegis of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and of the EXPERT-GRUP Independent Analytical Centre. Finance Minister Veaceslav Negruta, Education Minister Maia Sandu, private sector?s local and foreign representatives, members of the academic environment, economists and experts from Germany, Great Britain, Romania and Italy also attended the event.

Leanca thanked the organisers for carrying out this high-level event, specifying that the conference had approached important aspects for Moldova’s economic and social development. At the same time, Leanca welcomed this format of talks within annual international economic events following the examples of the Economic Forums from Krynica (Poland) and Saint Petersburg (Russia).

”I am convinced that the today discussions were not just theoretical, but also substantial, which might change the things for the better in Moldova,” Leanca said.

Leanca positively appreciated the elaboration of a roadmap for future actions, which also included certain key actions, recommended to the Moldovan government, meant to increase Moldova’s attractiveness for investments. The key actions are particularly related to increasing local producers’ competitiveness, trade facilitation, ensuring an efficient functioning of the customs service, adjusting infrastructure and others.

Leanca stressed that the made recommendations perfectly completed the priorities set in the governmental programme. He also said that a new instrument, called the Economic Council under the prime minister and meant to implement these recommendations, is to be launched within the government with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

At the same time, Leanca underscored that thematic meetings would be organised at the government and that the first one would approach the possibilities of improving Moldova?s business environment.

”No miracles can happen in a very short time, but, at the same time, we are optimistic. By creating a freer business environment, with less constrains, with lower pressure from the part of the state institutions, by diminishing the barrier existing in the investors’ way, it will be possible to create new jobs, a government’s priority,” Leanca said.

Leanca emphasised that the government was open for a dialogue with the business community and invited them to actively participate in better valuing Moldova’s opportunities and economic potential.
