OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2013. President Liu Deshu of Sinochem Group led a delegation to visit Europe and Africa, where he had communication and exchanges with transnational partners, such as Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC and UBS, and visited Prime Minister Philemon Yang and Secretary-General at the Presidency Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh of Cameroon.

They expressed their common wish to further deepen partnership and reached extensive consensus. During the visit, the delegation led by President Liu also went to the R&D center and the production plant of DSM Sinochem Pharmaceuticals Limited (“DSP” for short) and the rubber plantation of Sinochem International (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (“Sinochem International” for short) in Cameroon for field tour. The visit was accompanied by Vice President Pan Zhengyi and CFO Yang Lin of Sinochem Group.

On May 16 and 22, the delegation visited Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC and UBS, and held talks with Chairman Sir John Peace of Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC’s Group Chief Executive Stuart Gulliver and UBS CEO Sergio P. Ermotti, during which they reached the consensus to continue to carry forward their cooperation.

On May 20 and May 21 in DSM, President Liu and his entourage conducted sufficient communication and exchanges with Chairman Feike Sijbesma of the Managing Board of DSM Global Market, and other corporate management over situations of cooperative projects and directions of future in-depth cooperation. At the headquarters of DSP, the joint venture between both parties, in Delft, President Liu listened to report made by management of DSP, greeted expatriate and local employees and visited production facilities and R&D center of the company. President Liu put forward his hopes for and requirements on DSP development and emphasized that Chinese pharmaceutical market featured huge potentials and broad prospects. He also expressed the confidence in the technological capability and product quality of DSP.

On May 23, the delegation went to Cameroon in Africa. In the three-day visit there, the delegation led by President Liu visited Prime Minister Philemon Yang and Secretary-General at the Presidency Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh of Cameroon, in the company of Wo Ruidi, Ambassador of China to Cameroon. During the talks of both parties, President Liu expressed his heartfelt thanks to the governments of Cameroon at all levels for their vigorous support and help, with which Sinochem Group had sped up the development of its natural rubber planting and processing business in Cameroon, not only yielding good returns for the company but also benefiting local residents.

President Liu also said that Sinochem Group would make further investments in future to enlarge its rubber planting area in Cameroon in order to achieve scale effects. Prime Minister Philemon Yang said that Cameroon welcomed investments of Sinochem Group in Cameroon and that local areas would continue to strengthen their natural rubber business on the one hand and also strive to develop planting of crops, such as palm oil, rice, cassava and corn on the other, indicating huge potentials for cooperation between both parties on agriculture.

In the meeting with Secretary-General at the Presidency of Cameroon, Secretary-General Ngoh conveyed the thanks His Excellency President Paul Biya extended towards Sinochem Group for its contribution to local development as well as his warm welcome to the visiting delegation led by President Liu. The Secretary-General also said that Cameroon government would support future investments of Sinochem Group in Cameroon. President Liu also expressed the sincere appreciations of Sinochem Group to His Excellency President for his personal attention to development of Sinochem Group in Cameroon in recent years, and said that Sinochem Group would further bring into play its advantages in natural rubber planting and processing technology and sales channels and commit itself to long-term investments in Cameroon, so as to benefit local people and realize common development.

In the rubber plantations Hevecam and Sudcam of GMG held by Sinochem International, the delegation made an on-the-spot visit of the tapping sites and the rubber processing plant, visited and greeted local employees, and carried out communications and exchanges with people from the community where the project was located. In particular, President Liu and his entourage also paid a visit to the school set up by the Hevecam plantation, and donated teaching devices to teachers and students there.

The visit of the delegation led by President Liu to Europe and Africa has further strengthened communication and deepened cooperation between Sinochem Group and various cooperative partners, during which Sinochem Group reached extensive consensus with stakeholders, laying a solid foundation for development of the company in local regions.
