OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2013. The strategy was developed by the Economy Ministry to reduce amounts of hazardous products and dangerous transactions by at least 10%, which is expected to bring the extra revenue of MDL 1.3 billion to the budget in the period between 2013 and 2020.

To achieve these goals the strategy stipulates better supervision over the market; cooperation with the Customs service; simplification of filing complaints to, and considering complaints by, bodies in charge; better communication between consumers and authorities through the use of information technologies and other measures.

The strategy also stipulates implementation of a program to train and inform consumes about their rights, about requirements and rules of trade and placement of commodities and services on the market.

According to the document, "a consumer must be treated as an irreplaceable instrument to create and maintain competition, to achieve diversity and efficiency of entrepreneurship and to mitigate risks raised from bad quality goods and services”.

As the Economy Ministry says, there are over 2.9 million of active consumers of Moldova and consumers expenditure exceeds 63% of GDP. Estimated cost of implementation of the plan of action 2016 is MDL 22.6 million, of which MDL 5.7 million are going to be covered from external sources. Partially, the cost of the plan will be covered by the budget. A source to cover MDL 12.2 million has not been found yet.
