OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2013. According to the World Bank’s data, Per Capita GNI in Moldova makes USD 2,070, which places our country among lower middle income states. Since July, 1, 2013 the World Bank has changed the classification of economies based on estimates of GNI per capita and some states changed the group.

For example, Russia moved from upper middle income states to high income ones; Iraq moved from lower middle income sates to upper middle income states. In line with the new classification, low income states are considered states in which Per Capita GNI is less than USD 1,035.

They are Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Chad and Bangladesh. Among lowed middle income states (between USD 1,036 and USD 4,085) there are Uzbekistan, Moldova, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Georgia, Ukraine, Paraguay, Egypt and Syria. The group of upper middle income states (between USD 4,086 and USD 12,615) included Albania, Serbia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Brazil, Bulgaria, and Romania). High income states, at which Per Capita GNI exceeds USD 12,616, are Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic, Malta, Italy, UAE, Kuwait, Australia, Norway, etc. According to the World Bank, the average world GNI per capita made up USD 10,015.

The lowest Per Capita GNI made up USD 220 and was registered in Congo. Measured by regions, the lowest GNI per capita was registered in South Africa and South Asia, making up USD 1,345 and USD 1,422 respectively. The highest one was reported in the Euro area, being USD 37,934.
