OREANDA-NEWS. NEC Corporation has established "NEC SDN Solutions," a menu of innovative new solutions that strengthen Software-Defined Networking (SDN) through a combination of NEC technologies, products, services and partner products that enable the provision of solutions to corporations, government offices, telecommunications carriers and data center operators throughout the world.

In October 2013, NEC launches the NEC SDN Solutions menu that includes "WAN Connection Optimization for Offices and Data Centers," "Office LAN Optimization Solutions," "Access Authentication Solutions," "IaaS Operation Automation Solutions" and  "Data Center Network Integration Solutions."

SDN enables sophisticated ICT systems to quickly and flexibly adjust to environmental changes by using software to control network operations.

NEC's ProgrammableFlow network suite was the world's first commercially available SDN solution to leverage the OpenFlow protocol. This has enabled NEC to provide SDN solutions to more than 100 businesses and data center operators throughout the world. Moreover, NEC is conducting joint SDN trials of communications networks that demand high availability and real-time performance with one of Europe's leading providers of integrated communication solutions, Telefonica, and has concluded an SDN related MOU with Portugal Telecom.

NEC established an "SDN Strategy Office" on 1 April 2013, in order help establish a structure that enables SDN business to reach all corners of the NEC Group.

In addition, NEC Europe established the "SDN Technical Marketing Center" in June 2013 in order to strengthen the development, construction and support of SDN solutions for telecommunications carriers throughout the world, while actively collaborating with standard-setting organizations such as the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) (ISG NFV).

Going forward, NEC SDN Solutions will continue to capitalize on NEC's technologies and experience in the IT and Network fields in order to contribute to the resolution of ICT challenges for a wide range of customers.
