OREANDA-NEWS. Intel and OJSC KAMAZ announced cooperation to develop and commission the Russian Hill intelligent vehicle system based on the Intel Atom processor at a press conference during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The first working examples of trucks with this system will be showcased at the COMTRANS 2013 exhibition in September.

The project on the development of the intellectual vehicle system supporting ERA GLONASS services based on an open software platform was approved by an independent expert committee and Skolkovo Foundation in June 2012. At the same time, Intel announced the opening of a new R&D center in Russia: the daughter company Intel Software LLC was given the status of a Skolkovo resident.

The hardware and software solution (codenamed Russian Hill) localized for the Russian market includes such functions as navigation with up-to-date information about a load on transport networks, radio, media player, a telephone application, calendar, browser, an application for easy communication in social networks, as well as voice control and integration with infrastructure services. The platform is being developed to meet requirements of the automotive industry on the basis of an open-source operating system that is compatible with the Tizen OS which is considered as a benchmark by the GENIVI Alliance of auto producers.
