OREANDA-NEWS. Anhui's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, grew 2.9 percent year on year in June, up from 1.8 percent in May, Anhui Provincial Bureau of Statistics said Tuesday.

The bureau of statistics attributed the acceleration mainly to rises in food prices, which surged 6.4 percent year on year in June, and to the tail-raising factors in May.

On a monthly basis, the growth of CPI showed the prices remain stable, though the remarkable year-on-year rise of CPI. In June, CPI grew 0.2 percent month on month. Affected by the rebound of the price of pork and poultry, the food prices rose 0.5 percent month on month, which contributed about 0.16 percent to CPI month on month.
