OREANDA-NEWS. OMZ-Foundry Manufacture, a part of OMZ group, won the castings delivery tender for JSC Shiprepairing Center Zvezdochka. Castings will be used for building the new generation icebreaker LK-25.

Icebreaker LK-25 - is a linear diesel electric icebreaker aimed for operations on the North Sea Route. The 25 MW power of LK-25 makes it two times more powerful than other diesel icebreakers of Russian icebreaking fleet. Icebreaking capability makes up 2 meters. LK-25 can lead unassisted sheep convoy or run together with a nuclear lead icebreaker.

In line with the signed agreement OMZ-Foundry Manufacture will deliver blades, hubs and a fairwater piece valued 16 mln rubles to the shipbuilding company.

Such castings are notable for complex geometrical pattern and significant thickness differences. At the same time they must possess particular durability and wear resistance.

OMZ-Foundry Manufacture has a long-year experience of manufacturing shipbuilding products. The collaboration with JSC Shiprepairing Center Zvezdochka lasts over 14 years already. During this period OMZ-Foundry Manufacture delivered to the enterprise fully molded as well as built-up blades castings from high-resistant stainless steel types as well as other castings for marine equipment and ship devices.
