OREANDA-NEWS.  Czech company Sigma Group and Rosatom signed a contract for delivery of pumping units for emergency supply of boron for second unit of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant 2, which is currently under construction. The value of the signed deal is approximately 2 million EUR.

In the last four years, Sigma supplied equipment for Russian nuclear power plants worth more than 30 million EUR. „Sigma is a reliable supplier to Russian nuclear industry. Equipment manufactured by this company can thus be found in many Russian NPPs, including for example Leningrad, Kalinin, Balakov or Beloyarsk power plants as well as NPPs built according to Russian design but located in other countries, such as the Kudankulam NPP in India. If the MIR.1200 Consortium wins the tender for Temelin NPP completion, Sigma will become the supplier of all pumps and technological complexes related to pumps at the power plant. The value of this delivery would be more than 23 billion CZK. We have already signed a binding contract about future contract with the company,“ said executive viceprezident of Rusatom Overseas Leos Tomicek.

In the near future, contracts with other Czech companies Arako (for supply of control valves) and ARMATURY Group (for supply of fittings and ball valves) for the contruction of second unit at Novovoronezh NPP 2 are expected to be signed.

The construction of Novovoronezh NPP 2 is under way in accordance with the timetable. At the moment, concrete works at the containment dome of the reactor hall of the first unit are taking place and should be finished in third quarter of this year. At the same time, construction of passive heat removal system is ongoing.

Assembly of the support structure in the reactor hall has been finished at the site of the second unit as well as assembly of bridge crane in the turbine hall at the capacity of 220 tonnes. With the help of the crane, large-scale heavy equipment (high-pressure heaters, separators, reheaters) will be assembled shortly. In August, electrical cabelage will be put together at the power plant.
