OREANDA-NEWS. Kaluga Turbine Works (KTZ OJSC) – member of the Power Machines Company – has manufactured and successfully tested a 35 MW steam turbine for Sofia TPP in Bulgaria.

Power Machines OJSC and the Risk Engineering AD company (Bulgaria) concluded a contract to supply power generating equipment in 2012. Under the contract terms the power plant engineering company is to manufacture and supply a 35 MW steam turbine complete with a turbogenerator and auxiliary equipment, perform installation supervision and training of the plant's operational personnel.

The PR-35-8.5/1.0PR-35 turbine manufactured by KTZ OJSC is a machine with two steam tap-offs – extraction and bleeding ones. The design and production of this turbine has become a new project for the enterprise, as KTZ OJSC has never produced back pressure machines with such capacity.

Earlier Power Machines manufactured and successfully tested a set of turbogenerator equipment.

The equipment replacement at the fifth power unit of Sofia TPP will allow to increase its capacity from 25 MW to 35 MW.

This project is a continuation of the cooperation between Power Machines and the Risk Engineering AD company: Power Machines manufactured, delivered and supervised the installation of two 220 MW turbogenerators within the project for the refurbishment of two units at Maritsa Vostok-2 TPP under a contract signed with the Bulgarian customer in 2010.
