OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has announced an appointment of Aleksandr Smolin as Tele2 Russia sales and distribution development director. Aleksandr earlier held the post of the company’s retail chain development director.

In September 2013 Aleksandr Smolin headed the consolidated Sales and Distribution Development Directorate. Aleksandr’s main duties will be developing and launching a strategy in sales, developing distribution channels, planning and setting up schemes for managing the Tele2 Russia retail chain. Aleksandr Smolin will be in charge of searching and attracting strategic partners, expanding a range of goods and services in Tele2 stores.

Roman Volodin, Tele2 Russia chief commercial officer:

“Tele2 is focusing on the business efficiency – we are not simply building up a subscriber base but are also aiming to increase high-quality new additions: we are working on improving such ratios as ARPU and the time of the subscriber’s stay within Tele2 network. We do not distribute SIM-cards en masse but incite dealers to attract high-yielding clients. This process depends on efficient management of distribution channels, developed retail chain and well-adjusted schemes for cooperation with partners. I am sure that Aleksandr’s experience and energy will help the company achieve forecast results and beat them”.

Aleksandr Smolin graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) and holds an MBA from the Grenoble Graduate School of Business.

Prior to joining Tele2 Aleksandr held different leading posts at different international companies (Procter & Gamble, Ford Motor Company, ENIRO AB, YUM! Brands) where he was in charge of construction, franchising, real estate and developing partnerships.

In 2011 Aleksandr joined Tele2 Russia team as retail chain development director. Since July 2013 Alexander held the post of acting sales director in addition to his direct duties.

In September 2013 he headed the united Sales and Distribution Development Directorate of Tele2 Russia.
