OREANDA-NEWS. three Gonets-M spacecraft, developed and built by Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, were successfully delivered into the desired orbit from the Plesetsk launch site.

The satellites augmented the GONETS-D1M multipurpose personal satellite communications constellation. They are intended to provide secure communications anywhere on the Earth both for fixed and mobile users. Messages are stored in the satellite onboard memory until the destination station comes into view and then the message is forwarded to its recipient. Personal communications are highly important in remote regions with substandard infrastructure and are vital to emergency and disaster relief operations. Apart from that, satellites of this type are also used for environmental, industrial, scientific monitoring and asset tracking. Due to its multifunctional capabilities, the system enjoys high demand from various Russian ministries and government departments.

The Gonets-M spacecraft were manufactured under a state order within the framework of the Federal Space Program for the years 2006-2015. ISS-Reshetnev Company is responsible for the development and production of satellites for the GONETS-D1M network. It's anticipated that the GONETS-D1M system in its full capabilities, i.e. comprising 12 spacecraft, will become operational in late 2015.

In parallel with manufacturing Gonets-M satellites, the Reshetnev Company is completing work on the new Gonets-M1 satellite design with improved performance and higher capabilities.
