OREANDA-NEWS. Anglo American plc draws attention to an announcement issued by Kumba Iron Ore Limited (“Kumba” or the “Company”), the text of which is set out below:

Resignation and appointment of Kumba non-executive director

The board of Kumba announces the resignation of David Maxwell Weston, and the appointment of Anthony Martin O’Neill as a non-executive director of the Company, effective 30 September 2013. Mr Weston will retire from Anglo American plc at the end of September 2013 and the board expresses its gratitude to Mr Weston for his excellent contribution to the board and the Company, and wishes him well upon his retirement.

Mr O’Neill was appointed Group Director – Technical at Anglo American plc with effect from 1 September 2013, with responsibility for mining and technology, business performance, asset optimisation, projects and safety, health and environment. He most recently served as executive vice president – business and technical development and as joint acting chief executive officer at AngloGold Ashanti until July 2013. His 35-year career in the mining industry has spanned iron ore, copper, nickel and gold and includes his roles as operations executive at Newcrest Mining and as the head of the gold business at Western Mining Corporation.
