OREANDA-NEWS. The tasks of the new office are related to ROSATOM’s long-term business plans in Finland. In particular, the office will be in charge of developing cooperation with Finnish nuclear power company Fennovoima within the project of NPP construction at Hanhikivi site in Pyhjoki, as well as representing the interests of Russian nuclear companies in Finland.

Mr. Alexander Volkov has been appointed the Head of the office.

“Russia and Finland have been in mutually beneficial cooperation in the nuclear industry for several decades. The Russia-design Loviisa NPP has been operating in Finland for 36 years demonstrating one of the best performance and safety records in Europe. Now the cooperation with Finland assumes special significance for ROSATOM, given the plans for a joint project with Fennovoima. I am confident that the new marketing office will also facilitate entry of Finnish enterprises into ROSATOM’s global network of suppliers,” noted Kirill Komarov, Deputy Director General, International Business and Development, ROSATOM.

“The opening of a marketing office will allow us to cooperate more actively with Finnish companies within Hanhikivi NPP construction project, as well as jointly create new mutually beneficial projects not only in the field of nuclear energy,” emphasized Dzhomart Aliev, CEO of Rusatom Overseas.

At the moment, ROSATOM and Fennovoima are aiming at signing the contract for the construction of Hanhikivi-1 NPP by the end of 2013. At the same time the companies will agree upon a detailed schedule of the project, financing mechanisms, as well as possible ROSATOM’s acquisition of 34% share in Fennovoima.

Currently ROSATOM’s marketing offices are opened in Ukraine (also in charge of operations in Belarus and the Baltic countries), South Africa, Singapore, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary.
