OREANDA-NEWS. The third day of RAE 2013 exhibition was as eventful as the previous ones. The business program continued with discussion of the prospects for the defence industry development. Foreign delegations have visited both the indoor exhibition stand and the outdoor display of the UVZ Corporation and examined the innovative products developed by the facilities of the integrated structure of corporation. UVZ held negotiations with its prospective partners. Besides business meetings, the exhibition has seen significant social events.

One of the main social events was when the Eparchy of Nizhny Tagil received a gift from OJSC “Research and Production Corporation “URALVAGONZAVOD”. UVZ CEO Oleg Sienko presented Bishop Innokentiy of Nizhniy Tagil and Serov with a gift certificate and keys to four-apartment house built for families of young clergymen.

“URALVAGONZAVOD pays attention to its social responsibility. We are aware of the fact that our employees are individuals with diverse personalities, interests and one of the most important aspects of spiritual education is bringing people closer to religion. It’s not only the church who should implement spiritual and moral principles, but also the company”, said Oleg Sienko in his speech.

His Grace in his turn congratulated the corporation on successful exhibition and noted that the exhibition in 2013 is a huge step forward. He thanked Oleg Sienko for the support and kind cooperation, presented him an icon of Christ the Saviour and gave his blessing to Sienko and all the UVZ employees.

Research and Production Corporation “URALVAGONZAVOD” presented its new book “T-72/T-90: Developing Main Battle Tanks” at the plenary discussion “Innovation in tank building”. Deputy CEO UVZ Viacheslav Khalitov, the authors – UVZ science editor Sergey Ustyantsev and OJSC “UKBTM” design engineer Dmitry Kolmakov participated in the presentation. The presentation of the book has aroused great interest among Russian and foreign experts and mass media.

The book is unique in the way it dwells upon development of the combat vehicles, their evolution and trends of that time. The authors focus their research on persons: a design engineer, a military man, a manager; and decisions they made, that affected the fate of T-72 and T-90 tanks.

“T-72/T-90 series is an exceptional product, which is a distillation of all best qualities that I know of from my own experience, because I saw action myself. Their modernization capability is outstanding. We present two modernized T-72 and a modernized T-90S tank at RAE 2013. I thank the authors for the books. Principles and approaches of that time help us today develop new generation machines, that is the quintessence of all the experience of the national tank building, including T-72/T-90 tanks”, said Viacheslav Khalitov in his opening speech.

The reader will find in the book a lot of completely new information, which until recently had been classified. For instance, it’s common knowledge that T-72 tank is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest production modern tank. But for the first time now it is confirmed by figures. From 1974 to 1990 URALVAGONZAVOD produced 20 544 T-72 tanks and in 1985 alone – 1 559 tanks. As a comparison, the U.S. tank industry has built only 840 Abrams tanks in its most productive year.

UVZ CEO also gave a press point. In conversation with the press Oleg Sienko said that RAE 2013 is certainly a huge advancement, but there is something to aspire to. First and foremost, infrastructure of Nizhny Tagil is not ready yet to receive so many visitors. The first step has already been made – a world class hotel is to be built due to UVZ involvement at the embankment of the Nizhny Tagil pond.

Still our task for the exhibition of 2015 is to present a new combat platform to the public. By that time the platform is expected to pass all the tests and even participate in the in the parade on Red Square marking the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory.

Journalists in their turn thanked UVZ as the general coordinator of the exhibition for the excellent media management and comfortable environment.
