OREANDA-NEWS. German delegation paid a visit to SOCAR’s Head office. Welcoming the guests, SOCAR vice-president for investments and marketing Elshad Nassirov mentioned the developing relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, said such meetings play an important role in the development of relations between the two countries.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, former member of German Bundestag and PACE Edward Lintner noted that the delegation is represented by MPs representing the Federal Republic of Germany in the European Parliament, MPs of German Federal and Land Parliaments, including leading socio-political officials, lawyers, and journalists. SOCAR vice-president Elshad Nassirov mentioned the rich history of ancient oil production in Azerbaijan. According to him, Azerbaijan is the first country to industrially produce oil, to transport oil by tankers, rail-ways and pipelines, to refine, as well as to explore and commission the onshore and offshore petroleum fields. He spoke about the regional and international projects of SOCAR, its achievements, operation fields, diversified export pipeline system. As he stated, currently, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum main export gas pipelines have become a reliable source of energy supply for the region and EU countries. With developing the Shah Deniz field, Azerbaijan is known in the world as natural gas producing country. Noting the international support for TANAP and TAP as the routes of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Europe, Mr. Nassirov spoke about the agreements signed with the European companies to buy the gas volumes to be developed on Shah Deniz 2 project.
