OREANDA-NEWS. Rusatom Overseas, a subsidiary of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, today signed the Memorandum of mutual understanding with the Civil Nuclear Cooperation Center at the Czech Technical University in Prague (ИVUT).

The signing of the memorandum, which was the part of the Russian Federation Business Day on 55th International Engineering Fair in Brno, is a follow-up of cooperation between Russian and Czech experts in the nuclear field. The memorandum provides a legal basis for strengthening cooperation in the academic and scientific fields.

"The memorandum will allow Czech science to enhance the interaction with the world leader in nuclear technology. I believe that this cooperation will help to raise the level of education and research, not only in the Czech Technical University "- said Frantisek Hrdlicka, the Dean  of Czech Technical University Engineering Faculty.

In his turn, Leos Tomicek, Executive Vice President of Rusatom Overseas stressed that joint work of Czech and Russian scientists from the very beginning of the Czech nuclear industry development allowed to implement such large-scale projects as construction of NPPs by Russian design, and also participation of Czech suppliers in ROSATOM projects in Russia and abroad. "Today this cooperation is proceeding successfully. Czech specialists are involved into the International research reactor in Dimitrovgrad, Russia, and also into the activity of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. Czech students visit Russian NPPs; this year they have visited units of Novovoronezh NPP, both in operation and under construction, and have been trained at Rostov NPP. Russian professors give lectures at Czech universities. I am confident that the signing of the Memorandum will help to strengthen contacts between our scientists, young specialists, and students; as this is them who write a new chapter of civil nuclear energy", stressed Leos Tomicek.
