OREANDA-NEWS. In January-September 2013 the operations of the Open joint-stock Siberian Energy Coal Company (SUEK) won 68.9 mln tonnes of coal. Compared to the same period of the previous year the production decreased by 5%.

The sales volume in January-September 2013 went up 1.4% against the same period of the previous year, amounting to 66.1 mln tonnes of coal.

The domestic market sales decreased by 5.8%. The decrease in production and domestic consumption was brought about by a drop in demand for the energy generated by heat power stations caused by high water in the rivers of Siberia and Far East, which had increased power generation by hydroelectric power stations. In total, the Russian market consumed as many as 35.1 mln tonnes of coal, with 27.3 mln tonnes shipped to electric power industry.

The international market coal sales went up 11% and amounted to 31.0 mln tonnes of coal, with the Company's own coal exports growing by 10% and amounting to 28.4 mln tonnes of coal. The major international consumer markets are China, UK, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Taiwan.
