OREANDA-NEWS. In September, 2013 Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 40,933 TEU, representing an increase of 9% over the corresponding period of the previous year. Import, the main growth driver, surged 29.6%.

Commercial Port of Vladivostok has experienced the steady growth in container traffic since the beginning of the third quarter of 2013. During the period July-September, 2013 the port handled 125,507 TEU as compared to 118,850 TEU for the same period last year.
Containers are the fastest growing cargo flow in the Russian Far East and Commercial Port of Vladivostok strives to strengthen its position as a leading port at container market. In doing so, the port modernizes container handling facilities, streamlines Customer Service Centre operation, upgrades cargo handling equipment and makes continuous efforts in enhancing container volumes.

Commercial Port of Vladivostok has made it a top priority to boost containerized cargoes. During the first half of 2013 the share of containerized cargoes accounted for 60 percent of the port's total cargo flow.
