OREANDA-NEWS. In Boston, Massachusetts, an annual international conference took place called by the International Bar Association (IBA).

About 6000 lawyers from 134 countries of the world took part in the conference.

FBK Legal was represented in Boston by Alexander Ermolenko, FBK partner and the head of corporate practice, Anna Grishchenkova, the head of dispute resolution practice and the leading lawyer of tax consulting practice, Dmitry Paramonov, the lawyer.

Dmitry Paramonov presented his report at the conference tax section in which he spoke about the Russian experience in taxpayer's data communication and collection at the international level.

In the panel discussion together with Dmitry took part the leading tax specialists from Luxemburg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Norway, the USA and other countries.

The day before, the speech of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) representative had aroused the interest of the conferees in which he related about the Organization initiatives on such issues as:

Regulation of information interchange on taxpayers;

Fighting against “tax harbours”, when the tax base is removed from taxation in the countries of the capital origin;

Fighting against tax evasion practices by means of offshores.

Dmitry Paramonov in his report noted in particular that in spite of the fact that Russia was not the OECD member-state, the basic principles declared by the organization in relation to the exchange of tax information and fighting against offshores were already used in Russia or would be sealed in the tax and banking legislation in the near future.

The International Bar Association appointed Dmitry Paramonov the national reporter of Russia for 2013 and 2014.

According to Anna Grishchenkova, it is very inspiring that the conference brings together more and more participants every year, including those from Russia, and the participation in the conference becomes more informative and productive as attendance at the sessions is combined with social events and meetings with partners and colleagues. Anna thinks that most interesting were the sessions on dispute arbitration and litigation with the analysis of specifics in the process and practice in different countries as well as the sessions of Law Firm Management Committee, including the interactive one during which the participants carried out a “brain-storm” examination of the specifics of management in different types of law firms.

Alexander Ermolenko seconded the colleagues: “That is one of the largest professional forums; under the discussion here are all the topics in relation to the law and its practical application; the leading legal experts and organizations. I believe the delegates of FBK Legal will be regular participants in the annual legal conference organized by the International Bar Association”.
