OREANDA-NEWS. The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) recognized airport employees for their outstanding customer service as part of its “Above & Beyond” recognition program. In an award ceremony held today, three employees and an airport retailer were honored for demonstrating a consistently high level of service.

“These employees personify excellent customer service at SFO,” said Chief Operating Officer Tryg McCoy. “We are pleased to recognize them for creating an exceptional airport experience.”

The “Above & Beyond” program, one of the first such tenant recognition programs in the nation, is designed to monitor and improve customer service levels by highlighting outstanding efforts at SFO. During a five-month period, SFO Travelers Information volunteers served as “mystery shoppers” at over 160 Airport restaurants, retailers, and services providers to identify employees who demonstrate a superior level of customer service.

Of the hundreds of employees visited, three individuals were recognized for going “Above & Beyond”:

Grand Prize Winner: Ruben Gomez, Starbucks

Ruben is known for being an attentive, professional salesperson that excels at creating an inviting environment for customers. He always has a smile on his face that is very welcoming.2nd Prize:

Jacky Aurigui, Brookstone

Although Jacky has only worked for Brookstone for less than a year, she exudes professionalism on the job. Jacky's kindness and willingness to approach and engage customers are her strengths in providing outstanding service.3rd Prize:

Katrice Starling, Firewood

Katrice has worked for Firewood since July 2010 and has continued to deliver excellent customer service. She is well known for her bartending skills with an added personal touch. In her spare time, she is a karaoke super star, so keep your eye out for her!

Concession Winner:Gucci

Gucci was evaluated on two separate occasions and received perfect scores each time. The staff was attentive from start to finish, and displayed great teamwork during very busy times. Staff was to make each customer feel welcome during each visit.

The selected winners received a recognition certificate and cash award during a celebration held today at the San Francisco International Airport Aviation Museum and Library.
