As part of the Uzbek International Inter-Sector Exhibition Project “Uzbekistan Infrastructure 2013”, three international exhibitions have simultaneously opened at the Uzexpocenter: “Transport and Logistics – TransUzbekistan- 2013”, “Automobiles, Component Parts, Service Equipment – Auto&Parts Uzbekistan-2013” and “Road Construction and Municipal Engineering – UzComak-2013”.

The exhibitions are organized by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Trade and Industry Chamber, the Uzavtoyul state stock company for the construction and operation of automotive roads, the Association of International Automobile Carriers of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent city hokimiyat (mayor’s office) with support from the ITE Uzbekistan international exhibition company.

It was noted, in particular, at the opening ceremony that the wide-ranging reforms being marshaled under the leadership of President Islam Karimov in the automotive industry, transport communications, logistics and construction are an important factor in the dynamic development of the country.

The creative endeavors in the system of road and transport communications has been facilitating the active integration of our country into the world market, the cardinal improvement in the infrastructure of provinces, and the elevation in the wellbeing of people. President Islam Karimov’s resolutions “On Measures to Reconstruct and Develop the Uzbek National Automobile Highway in 2009-2014” signed 22 April 2009 and “On Accelerated Development of Infrastructure, Transport and Communications Construction in 2011-2015” signed 21 December 2010 have served as an important guide for action on this front.

Our nation wields automotive roads of international, state and local significance with a total length of 42 thousand and 654 kilometers. Roads have been laid during independence years with cement-concrete and asphalt cover with a length of 1 thousand and 279 kilometers. 175 bridges and 19 overpasses and underpasses have been built and reconstructed. Within the last period of time, the 238 kilometers of automobile roads constituting the Uzbek National Automobile Highway have been rebuilt as four-lane motorways. Five mountain passes have been built on automotive roads that pass through mountain areas. Of special importance among them is the Kamchik Pass located at an altitude of 2 thousand and 268 meters above the sea level.

Effective during works in this sector are the activities of enterprises that comprise the companies and agencies responsible for the maintenance and operation of motorways of international and national significance, as well as of academic and research institutions and specialized construction organizations.

Participants of the exhibition “Uzbekistan Infrastructure-2013” are the more than sixty firms and companies from 15 countries, including Uzbekistan, China, South Korea, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan.

“Our company manufactures stone-crushing machinery, soil-mixing plants, concrete pumps, ball grinders,” says Raymond Wang, director general of the China-based Hanvy. “These goods are exported to more than thirty countries, such as Germany, Nigeria, Russia, Samoa and India. The road construction industry of Uzbekistan has great prospects. We are interested in the comprehensive consolidation of bonds with entrepreneurs from this country.”

“The cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea has been consistently developing across all spheres,” Justin Son, representative of the South Korean company Sebang Global Battery, shares with us. “Founded in 1952, our company produces diverse marks of storage batteries for trucks and cars, motor boats, golf-mobiles, prime movers, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, technologies in the power industry, manufacturing sector and medicine. The extensive opportunities and privileges for foreign businesspeople created in Uzbekistan have been cementing the aspiration of Korean investors for cooperation.”

The favorable investment climate created in Uzbekistan serves as an important factor in the further enhancement of trade and economic ties with foreign nations, in the attraction of modern technologies to all spheres of life. In particular, a range of joint ventures have been successful in their activities in the automotive manufacturing industry that specialize in the production of quality spare parts and elaborate components not inferior to their foreign counterparts in quality.

“More than 50 models of contemporary trucks and specialized machinery with a freight capacity from 15 to 50 tons are produced at our enterprise,” shares Alisher Alikulov, manager general of the Uzbek-German joint venture MAN Auto-Uzbekistan. “Auto cranes, lorries, isometric vans, water carriers, combined road machines, canal cleaning machines, concrete mixers, grain and cotton and waste transportation machines in particular enjoy special demand. The dealer and service center of MAN has a capacity to overhaul and provide services to more than 1.5 thousand trucks and specialized machinery per year. We project to stretch this indicator up to 4 thousand machines in the future. Mechanics and metalworkers for services to trucks study at the center for the training and raising the proficiency of specialists. Drivers for hoisting machinery are trained in accordance with the MAN ProfiDrive program. The training of drivers within this system allows saving 20-30 percent of fuel, prolong the time span of operation of mobile parts and transmission elements and managing the automobile with safety. In the nine dealer and service centers located in Tashkent, Kokand, Samarkand, Bukhara, Karshi and Urgench, the implementation and provision of quality technical servicing is established for MAN trucks produced at the plant.”

The “Uzbekistan Infrastructure-2013” exhibitions encompass all the modern spheres in automotive industry, transport and logistics and construction. They present a number of divisions, such as cutting-edge transport technologies; automobile, railroad, sea and river transport; electric machinery and component parts; passenger and freight transportation; logistics; courier and information services; equipment for trucks; control and technical service systems.
