OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2013. China’s first floating LNG import terminal is expected to commence operation and receive its first deliveries next month.
 
CNOOC, the operator of the terminal won approval from Beijing in August, and the first phase of the Tianjin-based facility, costing RMB3.3bn, is designed to have an annual receiving capacity of 2.2 million tonnes.
 
Energy demand is increasing as winter approaches, and Beijing has asked energy companies to boost gas supply and increase gas imports to domestics fields.
