OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2013. At present, the issue of implementation of public-private partnership in Ukraine is one of the most vital, because it allows solving a number of problems related to the financing of infrastructure facilities in the region. This was discussed during a government video conference on the Status of Public-Private Partnership.

"Monitoring of the implementation of PPP projects in the field shows that the implementation of nearly 80 projects has been started in 2013, as of January 1, 2013 it was implemented more than 150 projects, and by now - more than 220. Now about 500 public-private partnership projects are in various stages of implementation," the director of investment and innovation policy development and public-private partnerships Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Viktor Kovalenko said.

As it was mentioned during the video conference, the main task for the central government is to simplify approval procedures and preparation of projects, thus making the mechanism of public-private partnerships more accessible and attractive to regions and perform the widest information support of the Public-Private Partnership.

"In the second half of January we are going to discuss the problems that arise in the regions in the selection and implementation of projects. The concept of PPP has already approved, a gradual improvement of the legal framework will be held, in particular, we together with our colleagues have prepared a draft strategy for the development of PPP that is currently processed in the concerned ministries and departments. In the near future, this strategy will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine," Victor Kovalenko said.
