OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2013. There will soon be another new addition to the Moscow skyline and the capital’s new international business center, Moscow City: the IQ-quarter. For the new multifunctional complex ThyssenKrupp Elevator has received an order for the delivery, installation and commissioning of 22 TWIN elevators with a total of 44 cabs, 23 conventional elevators, and 16 escalators.

“Since more than three years more than half of the world population has been living in cities. Urbanization and the rapid population growth have become the greatest challenges of our future. Larger and taller buildings require new technologies and mobility solutions like our innovative TWIN elevator system,” Andreas Schierenbeck, Chairman of the Board of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG, says.

“This new order expands our position on the growing real estate and construction market in Russia and demonstrates once again the trust placed by developers and architects in our mobility solutions – especially for high-rise projects,” says Helmut Brandl, Chief Executive Officer for the Russia/CIS regional organization of ThyssenKrupp Elevator. “From the initial planning phase we develop solutions using state-of-the-art calculation and simulation processes which create added value for our customers in the form of increased transportation capacity, space savings, better use of material, and high energy efficiency”.

“The project name speaks for itself – the complex is being built to the latest standards and will be one of the most technologically advanced in the city. The quality of the elevators in high-rise buildings is a major factor for transportation safety and visitor comfort. This is precisely why we have chosen ThyssenKrupp Elevator with its high-quality equipment and proven experience with skyscrapers,” says Evgeny Borkin, Vice President of Hals Development.

The IQ-quarter consists of a total of three towers of different heights (21, 33 and 42 floors) and a transportation terminal. While top class offices with a total area of 123,000 square meters will be created in the two 33- and 42-floor high-rise buildings, the third tower with 21 floors will accommodate several premium class apartments and an exclusive five-star Sofitel hotel with 159 rooms. The first and ground floors of the three towers will be united by an atrium with restaurants, shops, fitness studios, air ticket offices and banks. The total area of infrastructure, shops and food courts will be 6,000 square meters.

A transportation terminal, located in the Metro, will connect the complex to the station “Mezhdunarodnaya” and stations of the “Solntsevskaya” and “Kalininskaya” subway lines to the international airports Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo. In addition, five underground levels will provide 716 parking spaces.

The project of the IQ-quarter has been designed by the American architect bureau NBBJ East LLC.
