OREANDA-NEWS. December 16, 2013. During his official visit to the Republic of Korea, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov has met with President of Korea Park Geun-hye.

Akhmetov conveyed to Park Geun-hye best wishes from President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and invitation to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan in 2014.

The main theme of the meeting was the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

"We have made significant progress in this direction, as evidenced by the dynamics of bilateral trade, the volume of which in the first nine months of this year exceeded 1 billion U.S. dollars. We intend to continue to increase turnover," Akhmetov said.

He noted that Kazakhstan and Korea implemented a number of large-scale joint projects on construction of Balkhash thermal power plant, chemical complex in Atyrau region, "Zhambyl" field development.

"I am confident that the implementation of these major projects will contribute to the development of Kazakhstan's economy and will significantly enhance investment and technological cooperation between our countries," the Prime Minister said.

Park Geun-Hye conveyed best wishes to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. She praised the level of bilateral cooperation and called for further deepening of contacts across the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.

"Kazakhstan is one of the main partners of the Republic of Korea in the Eurasian space," Park Geun-Hye said during the meeting.

The President also noted the extensive experience of Korea in holding EXPO and expressed "readiness to share experience in organizing such events with Kazakhstan."
