OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2013. A plenary sitting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Kuwaiti commission on economic, technical and trade cooperation has been held. Ukrainian delegation was headed by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko.

"The Ukrainian side considers this event primarily as an opportunity to specify the direction for further development and intensification of Ukrainian-Kuwaiti trade and economic cooperation in the priority areas of cooperation and to reach arrangements concerning implementation of joint long-term projects in areas of mutual interest," K. Gryshchenko said.

Vice Prime Minister stressed that the strengthening of relations with Kuwait is a strategic issue for leadership of our country. "The search for new markets and expand existing facilities to increase export capacity, increasing economic presence of our country abroad and to attract investment from other countries is not just the strategic direction of the Government of Ukraine, but also a vital need of today's foreign policy of our country. Just Kuwait is considered as one of the leaders of Ukraine of prospective partners," the official said.

K. Gryshchenko praised the effectiveness of the business forum that was held on  December 18 in Kuwait, stressing the growth of trade turnover between Ukraine and Kuwait in 2013.

During the meeting of the Commission the sides discussed cooperation in areas such as tourism, agriculture, energy, utilities and industrial cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the national project "InterMedicalEcoCity", which will be implemented together with the Kuwaiti Fund for Economic Development.

During the visit, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine K. Gryshchenko met with the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Trade of Kuwait. During his visit to Kuwait the Agreement on the abolition of visas for citizens of Ukraine - holders of diplomatic and service passports as well as minutes of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Kuwaiti Commission on economic, technical and trade cooperation.
