OREANDA-NEWS. UTair Aviation, the airline with the broadest domestic route network in Russia, announces results of the “We know because we fly” web contest among the passengers. Participants were invited to send in an interesting fact about any city or town within the UTair's network. More than 400 contestants sent in nearly 2,500 unique messages, with an individual record of 332 unique facts sent by a contestant from Perm. The majority of responses were received from Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Surgut, Tyumen, Samara, Irkutsk, Kazan, Omsk, Magnitogorsk, Perm, and Murmansk.

The following eight submissions have been proclaimed the winners by a special panel of judges through secret ballot:

Anastasiya Chernenko of Khanty-Mansiysk: “The keys of the Johannes Klais Orgelbau pipe organ in the Concert & Theater Center in Khanty-Mansiysk are made of mammoth ivory.”

Nail Khairullin of Salekhard: “The natives of the Yamal Peninsula can construct a traditional native dwelling from 40 birch poles and 60 reindeer skins in a mere half an hour.”

Natalia Masterkova of Moscow: “Budapest has 123 hot springs - more than any other city on earth.”

Svetlana Yakovleva of Yaroslavl: “Irkutsk is equidistant from the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. Hence the city's nickname the Middle of the Earth.”

Igor Dutov of Novosibirsk: “The entire Bolshoi Theatre can fit under the giant dome of Novosibirsk Opera Theatre.”

Alexander Chazov of Perm: “There is a restaurant in Tallinn that even serves garlic ice-cream.”

Tatyana Chernova of Tomsk: “Volgograd has the largest residential building in the world, 1,140 meters long.”

Alexander Abramov of Tver: “Murmansk is the only city on Earth where all the trains head south while all the ships head north.”

All the winners will be awarded a certificate for a round trip economy class trip to one of the destinations in the UTair network.

Another 12 finalists, including Stanislav Starostin, Lyubov Petrova, Mikhail Khisamutdinov, Nickolai Batashev, Liana Arslanbaeva, Svetlana Lukina, Alia Murzina, Andrei Fedorov, Vladimir Krasnikov, Lyubov Malovichko, Elena Yuzefovich, and Pavel Dyupin, will receive consolation prizes.

UTair Aviation will use the most original facts in its “We know because we fly” advertising campaign.
