OREANDA-NEWS. Power Machines OJSC and the Turkish company DSI (Directorate of Water Reservoirs and HPPs of the General State Office of Water Resources organized under the Ministry of Forestry and Hydraulic Works) have signed a contract to provide the equipment to the Kigi hydropower plant being built in the Turkish province of Elazig.

Prior to entering into the contract the customer announced a tender, upon the results of which Power Machines' feasibility proposal was recognized as the best.

According to the contractual obligations Power Machines are to produce and deliver on turn-key basis electrical and mechanical equipment for the HPP, including three 46.6 MW hydraulic turbines with pre-turbine gate valves, three generators of the same capacity, all the electrical and mechanical equipment of the turbine hall and a switchgear. Commissioning of all the three plant’s hydropower units in 2016 is to finalize the project.

Power Machines' participation in the construction of the Kigi HPP is a sign of continued  successful activities of the Russian power engineering company in Turkey: in 2008 Power Machines implemented a project to provide equipment for the Torul HPP and supervise its installation. The scope of supply comprised two 52.8 MW hydropower units fitted out with radial-flow hydraulic turbines with pre-turbine gate valves, two hydrogenerators and excitation systems.

Earlier, in 1980s, Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and Electrosila (subsidiaries of Power Machines) produced and delivered a 210 MW steam turbine complete with a generator for the Orkhaneli TPP and two 55 MW steam turbines for the Iskenderun TPP in Turkey. In 1970s the Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (main production site of EMAlliance JSC which is a member of the Power Machines power engineering group) supplied six boilers with a steam capacity of 220 t/h for six power units of the Iskenderun TPP as well.
