OREANDA-NEWS. January 08, 2014. PetroChina Co. (857), China’s biggest oil and gas producer, received a spot cargo of liquefied natural gas from Nigeria, ship-tracking data show.

The Methane Becki Anne, with a capacity of 167,000 cubic meters, docked yesterday at the Rudong terminal in Jiangsu province, according to transmissions captured by IHS Fairplay on Bloomberg. The vessel loaded the supercooled gas at Equatorial LNG’s Punta Europa terminal and departed Nov. 25.

PetroChina has no long-term contracts to buy LNG from Equatorial Guinea, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The company operates the 3.5 million metric ton-a-year Jiangsu terminal, a 3 million-ton receiving facility at Dalian, and the 3.5 million-ton Tangshan plant.

Asian LNG importers typically purchase spot cargoes from December to March to meet peak heating and power demand.
