OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2014. Moldova has increased the electric energy imports from Ukraine by 78 per cent in the first 11 months of 2013 against the same period of 2012.

The Ministry of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine said that 1.390.6 billion kWh in amount of 94.7 million dollars were supplied to Moldova in January-November 2013, by 607.1 million kWh more compared to the same period of 2012.

Thus, Moldova ranked third in terms of the quantity of the purchased Ukrainian power, following Hungary and Belarus.

The distribution companies are importing electric energy from Ukraine and Moldovan CTE (known as Kuchurgan power station). The power from Ukraine is imported via the Energocom enterprise of the DTEK Company, owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov. The electric energy import price maintains at 6.9 cents for one kWh for the second year in a row.

According to sources of the power distribution companies, the electric energy supplier from Ukraine might change in 2014.
