OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2014. Last year, in the North development region 11 projects were implemented and 4 of them are going to be continued in 2014. In particular, 7 initiatives at a total commitment of MDL 78.82 million were implemented for money provided by the National Regional Development Fund.

4 projects have been implemented with the support of foreign donors: Two of them, valued at MDL 7.43 million, have been backed by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), MDL 155.08 thousand has been allotted by the Czech Republic, MDL 60.99 thousand has been provided by the USA government through USAID small grants program.

As a result of implementation of the projects, the road bed at a total length of 7.7 kilometres was renewed; two bridges were reconstructed, two pavilions were built, water pipes at a total length of 18.8 km and sewerage pipes at a total length of 6.4 km were repaired, 2 water pump stations and a street illumination system were installed, 5 vehicles were bought, etc. In line with the 2013-2015 plan, in the northern parts of Moldova 18 projects are to be implemented. 4 of them have been completed and financial sources are being indentified for 3 projects.

By the end of 2015, 61 regional development projects are going to be implemented all over Moldova with the total budget of over MDL 1.25 billion. It should be noted that in 2014 the budget of the National Regional Development Fund makes up MDL 195 million only. To hit the mid-term target, financial resources of Moldova’s development partners – Germany, the USA and others – are going to be attracted.
