OREANDA-NEWS. In 2013 the turnover of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (“SP SPb”) amounted to 7.8 mln. tons, which is by 11% less than in 2012.

Decrease was caused by the reduction of handling volumes of ferrous metals due to the downfall of demand for this type of products at the main world markets.

In particular, handling volumes of ferrous metals decreased by 28% to 1.9 mln. tons. Handling volumes of non-ferrous metals decreased by 9% to 1.5 mln. tons. At the same time due to improvement of technical conditions of handling of scrap metal handling volumes of this cargo increased by 13% up to 0.9 mln. tons. Handling volumes of general cargoes in “SPSP” amounted to 5.7 mln. tons within the reporting period which is by 18% less than in 2012.

According to the results of 2013 the port increased handling volumes of loose and bulk cargoes by 15% up to 2.1 mln. tons. This growth was caused by increase of handling volumes of mineral fertilizers up to 1.2 mln. tons or by 1.5 times. This is related to optimization of technological process of handling of such cargoes.

In 2013 export cargo flow of “SPSPb” decreased by 8% in comparison with the last year to 6.1 mln. tons, decrease of import cargo flow amounted to 20% to 1.7 mln. tons.
