OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2014. Automated Start/Stop Control System of 1st and 2nd floatation sections has been upgraded at Kola MMC (Norilsk Nickel affiliate) concentrator plant.

The control system was put into operation in 1989 and has since become obsolete, with no vital spare parts being produced by the manufacturer.

The new ACS is based on Siemens Simatic S7 platform which meets all the process control requirements. Hardware, software and data transfer protocols are duly certified and comply with common industrial standards.

The project will benefit the company by raising fail-safety of the concentrator plant and add flexibility to adjustment of process parameters.

Total cost of the investment project amounts to RUB10 million.
