OREANDA-NEWS.  January 28, 2014. An Uzbek-Korean business forum on waste recycling has taken place at the Trade and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan as part of the visit by business circles from the Republic of Korea. The event was attended by foreign and domestic entrepreneurs and specialists who discussed the prospects of the bilateral cooperation in reprocessing and disposal of waste.

The occasion was held within the frameworks of the Memorandum on Understanding and Cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Trade and Industry Chamber and South Korea’s R&D Centre for Valuable Recycling.

The head of department for the promotion of foreign economic ties at the Trade and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan D.Rasulov noted in particular that the mutually beneficial interaction between Uzbekistan and South Korea has been advancing vigorously across all areas, including in recycling and disposal of wastes.

Uzbekistan is a country with a dynamically developing manufacturing industry. Issues concerning high-technological reprocessing of wastes as well as their dumping without harm to the environment are crucial. Adopted 5 April 2002, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Waste Products” has been serving as an important normative basis for regulating the state of affairs on this front. Systemic works are put in order in our country to dispose of wastes, and the number of enterprises to reprocess them has been rising. The business forum is sought to facilitate exchange of expertise between Uzbek and South Korean businesspeople and specialists in this field and consolidate their cooperation in the sphere of recycling and discharging wastes.

Representatives of Pusung Recycling, Emax Solution, Recytec and other South Korean companies specializing in reprocessing diverse types of wastes spoke at the event. Presentations were held to display their experience in recycling electronic and home appliances, secondary plastic bottles and automobile tires. Given the fact that the automotive industry is well developed in Uzbekistan, the Korean entrepreneurs demonstrated a methodology of reprocessing the wastes in this industry. The Uzbek entrepreneurs’ attention was drawn to the method of automatic selection of wastes and the technology of extracting valuable substances out of them.

“Today’s business forum is an extension of our cooperation with Uzbek partners in the area of recycling and disposing of wastes,” says Dr Bong Gou-cheo, Executive Director of the R&D Centre for Valuable Recycling. “A great variety of seminars are being organized on the subject, and agreements are concluded among Uzbek and South Korean companies. Owing to the significance attached in Uzbekistan to recycling and disposal of wastes, this sphere has been advancing in your country with high rates. I hope the Uzbek-Korean interaction in reprocessing and disposing of wastes will advance further in the years to come.”

A number of agreements were signed at the end of the business forum between Uzbek and South Korean companies, which has become another considerable input into the cooperation mutually advantageous for our two nations in the field of recycling and disposing of wastes.
