OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2014. Last year Ukraine received from the European Union Eur 15.6 mln for the projects of energy efficiency. Deputy head of the State Agency for Energy Effectiveness and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhiy Dubovyk informed during the final press conference. 

“The European Commission adopted a decision on transfer of the 2-nd and 3-rd tranches in the amount of 10 million Euro and 5.6 million Euro respectively. Thus far the funds have been converted into the national currency and they are on the account of the Treasury,” the deputy head of the Agency added.

According to S. Dubovyk, to use the funds allotted by the EU for the energy efficient projects the Agency is elaborating changes to the National Target Economic Program of energy effectiveness and development of production of energy carriers from renewable energy sources and alternative kinds of fuel for 2010-2015.

Moreover, he informed that jointly with the regions there had been prepared 490 project propositions at the total sum of around UAH 1.3 bln which are envisaged to realize in the frames of the Program. Deputy head of the State Agency also stressed that overall for realization of energy effectiveness program for the current year it was envisaged financing in the amount of almost UAH 500 mln with UAH 324.8 mln out of this sum – are the funds of the first tranche of budget assistance of the European Union in the framework of the Agreement on financing the program “Support of implementation of Energy Strategy of Ukraine in energy effectiveness and renewable energy sources”. 

In the course of the media conference it was informed that from the beginning of realization of regional programs (2010 – the first half of 2013) there had been introduced around 18 thousand measures in energy effectiveness and energy saving. It resulted into saving of around 5.7 bln cu m of natural gas. Throughout the first half-year of 2013 the economy made up 0.92 bln cu m.

Moreover, Deputy head of the State Agency for Energy Effectiveness and Energy Saving of Ukraine S. Dubovyk told about increasing the capacity of renewable energy objects operating according to the “green” schedule. 

Targeting stirring up energy effectiveness the Agency has elaborated and prepared 9 projects of normative-legal acts in the previous year among which are the draft Law of Ukraine “On the effective use of fuel and energy resources” approved by the Government and submitted for considering by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and 2 projects of the National Action Plan: the draft National Action Plan for renewable energy up to 2020 and the draft National Action Plan for energy effectiveness up to 2020.
