OREANDA-NEWS. A new power transformer has been installed at the 220kV substation of the mine group Solikamsk-2 of OJSC Uralkali. Modern equipment, purchased as part of the investment project, has a greater reliability and allows reducing energy losses during voltage transformation by several times.

The new power transformer is installed at the 220kV substation instead of the equipment that served out its service life.

Vadim Buldakov, chief electrician of the mine group Solikamsk-2:

The former unit has been functioning on Solikamsk-2 since the very beginning - 1973. Its wear was big enough, which resulted in a loss of electricity during voltage transformation. Last year we decided to replace the overage equipment with a modern model. It is assumed that the new transformer will reduce energy losses, inevitable during voltage transformation, on average, by two to three times.

The 220kV substation, which will host the new transformer, is responsible for a stable energy supply to almost the entire underground complex of Solikamsk-2. This includes mine equipment and hoisting equipment of the shaft 4, as well as equipment of the main fan installation.

Anatoly Belosludtsev, chief specialist for the surface complex of the electrical supervisor department:

Use of energy-saving equipment is one of the ways of reducing energy consumption across the mining group. The new transformer was purchased as part of the investment project.

In addition to improved technical characteristics, the new transformer has smaller dimensions, while maintaining all necessary technical parameters.
