OREANDA-NEWS. Applications for the KfW Award for Construction and Housing must be postmarked by 7 March 2014. Any developers who have built or modernised a row house in Germany in the last five years are invited to apply by this date. According to the contest rules, the houses must form a row together with at least two other houses and enhance the existing environment. An individual and future-oriented planning and construction technique will also gain positive marks from the twelve-member jury, chaired by architect Professor Hans Kollhoff.

“The trend of living and residing in the city or town centre continues unabated, yet building ground is still at a premium. Row houses therefore offer an economic and attractive solution for creating a considerable amount of living space,” explained Werner Genter, Senior Vice President at the KfW Group.

The prize money for the KfW Award totals EUR 30,000. The winner will receive EUR 10,000, the runner-up will take home EUR 6,000 and the third placed entry will receive EUR 4,000. Ten other projects will be awarded with a prize of EUR 1,000 each. The awards ceremony will take place on 3 June 2014 at KfW's Berlin offices.
